Alvaro’s passion for construction runs deep in his family, with his father, cousins, uncles, and even his younger brother working in the trades. Inspired by his cousin’s experience, he joined the industry and has since built a career based on pride, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. With 12 years of experience—eight of those in concrete construction—he transitioned to a new role to embrace different challenges and grow both personally and professionally. One of his proudest achievements was executing an intricate edgeform layout for a five-story parking garage in San Mateo with exceptional precision, a testament to his dedication to quality work. His most rewarding experience, however, was working alongside his father for over three years while helping build Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, a challenging yet fulfilling project. Alvaro believes that true success in the industry comes from taking pride in every task, seeing construction as a career rather than just a job. He values the opportunity to travel to new cities and appreciates the diversity of each place he works. A lesson that has shaped his career came from a journeyman mentor who told him, “Everything you build, you’re signing your name on it. So take pride in your work, don’t take shortcuts.” That philosophy continues to guide Alvaro in his craft every day.
