Solving Complex Problems: The Bulgari Barricade

At Bulgari’s flagship buildout at 200 Grant Avenue, Singular Builders faced a unique challenge: how to construct a 12-foot-tall privacy barricade strong enough for San Francisco’s wind, fog, and foot traffic — without anchoring into the sidewalk or the century-old façade.

Superintendent Elvis Hodzic designed a one-of-a-kind solution: a modular, self-standing barricade built from welded steel beams, scaffold, and plywood. The 12x60ft structure was engineered to stand on its own, keeping the public safe and the project secure.

When 3,500lb sheets of glass were installed, the team removed and replaced sections of the barricade sequentially, maintaining stability while completing the installation. After project completion, the barricade was sustainably dismantled: steel beams sold back to the manufacturer, steel plates returned, scaffold reused, and plywood recycled.

The Bulgari Barricade is a perfect example of what makes Singular different — solving complex problems with technical innovation and a commitment to sustainability.
